Some 5km south of Na Fkea, you reach the turning east for
FYTOS
(or thytos), by far the most attractive spot on Kassndhra, if a bit self-consciously so. This large village of tiled-roofed, traditional houses spreads over a series of ravines furrowing the bluff here, which ends in a sharp drop to the sea. Near the cliff bottom a series of springs oozes from a rock overhang, nurturing a little oasis - and doubtless a spur in the founding of Aphytis, the village's ancient predecessor.
