TYLISSOS
has a significant archeological site (daily 8.30am-3pm; ?1.20) where three Minoan houses were excavated; unfortunately, its reputation is based more on what was found here (many pieces in the Irklion museum) and on its significance for archeologists than on anything which remains to be seen. Still, it's worth a look, if you're passing, for a glimpse of Minoan life away from the big palaces, and for the tranquillity of the pine-shaded remains.
ANYIA
