The two neighbouring beach resorts of Tingki and Marmri are separated from each other by the salt marsh of
Alyk
, which retains water until June after a wet winter. Between January and April Alyk is host to hundreds of migratory birds, and most of the time you'll find tame terrapins to feed near the outlet to the warm, shallow sea, though the drought of recent years means you're unlikely to see any of this until the next rainy winter. There's almost always a breeze along this coast, which means plenty of windsurfers for hire at either resort.
