Until a few years ago,
SARNANO
, south of San Ginesio, was a poor and virtually abandoned village. Recently, however, the town has woken up to the potential of its radioactive springs, known since Roman times to have wide-ranging curative properties, and has begun to develop itself into an exclusive spa resort. The medieval core, coiling in concentric circles around a gentle hill, has been subtly restored, and though it's now more of a showpiece than a living village, its narrow interconnecting cobbled streets and picturesque old houses make it an ideal place for an undemanding day's wandering.
