Perched on a hill overlooking the Romney Marshes, the town of
RYE
lies over the county border in East Sussex. Added as a "limb" to the original Cinque Ports, the town then became marooned two miles inland with the retreat of the sea and the silting up of the River Rother. It is now one of the most popular places along the Sussex coast - half-timbered, skew-roofed and quintessentially English, but also very commercialized.
