The small town of
RANAU
sits on the south side of the main KK-Sandakan road, 20km from Kinabalu National Park, and is a handy stopping point if it's too late to travel the extra 19km to Poring. Minibuses stop at the eastern edge of town, on a patch of land beside Block A. At present, long-distance buses from KK to Sandakan stop briefly across town, on Jalan Kibarambang, also the site of Ranau's shared taxi stand, though they may both move to the minibus terminus.
