The closest beach resort to Epidaurus is
Pale Epdhavros
(officially Arha Epdhavros), which has expanded since the improvement of the direct coast road from Krinthos, but remains pleasantly small-scale. The recent discovery of ancient remains at the village means that some road signs for the beach now indicate "Ancient Epidavros", while the main inland site is referred to as "Ancient Theatre of Epidavros". As far as the remains are concerned, excavations are still in progress but they are worth a quick visit.
