OISTINS
is the main town along the south coast and one of its less touristed parts. A couple of

run here from Bridgetown, as does

11, which continues to Silver Sands. The unusual name is a corruption of Austin, one of the first landowners in the area, described by an early historian as "a wild, mad drunken fellow, whose lewd and extravagant carriage made him infamous in the island".
