NOOSA
is dominated by an enviably beautiful headland, defined by the mouth of the placid Noosa River and a strip of beach to the south. Popular since surfers first came in the 1960s to ride fierce waves around the headland, the setting compensates for any neon and concrete in town. It's also a starting point for trips to Cooloola National Park and Fraser Island directly north, attractions that tend to overshadow Noosa's own sand, pleasant river scenery and tiny national park.
