An easy excursion from the main road is to the small village of
MZAPOS
, whose deep-water harbour made it one of the chief settlements of Mni, until the road was built in the twentieth century. From the main road, take the side road to yios Yeryios and then to Mzapos, where there are a few rooms. The best of some fine coastal walks leads to the twelfth-century
church of Vlahrna
, which has a few fresco fragments, including a memorable John the Baptist. If you ask at one of the cafs in Mzapos it's sometimes possible to negotiate a boat trip out to Tigni, or even around the cape to Yerolimnas.
