MEGHAULI
, 15km west of Jagatpur, is home to the
airstrip
used by guests visiting
Tiger Tops,
which all but owns this part of the park (daily flights from Kathmandu; $72). Consequently the village sees daily herds of upmarket tourists migrating back and forth on planes and jeeps, but has very little to do with them. Few independent travellers make it here either, as it's a two-day trek from Sauraha, or about two hours by local
bus
from Narayanghat (hourly in the morning, less frequent after 10am). There are also daily express buses between Kathmandu and Meghauli.
