MAHENDRA NAGAR
, another border town but with a good deal of spark, thanks to day-tripping shoppers from India. The town is laid out in an unusually logical grid south of the highway, with the
bus park
at the northwestern end. Walk south from the bus park for 500m and you come to the first intersection of the grid: to the left (east) is the main shopping street, and to the right (west) is the road to the
airstrip
(3.5km) and Sukla Phanta Wildlife Reserve. RNAC discontinued its weekly flights to Mahendra Nagar in 1998, but may in time resume them.
