LEWISPORTE
, west of Gander and just 16km from the Trans-Canada along Route 340, is the terminal for the twice-weekly
ferry
to Goose Bay, in Labrador. DRL Coachlines from St John's drops you at the Irving petrol station, on the Trans-Canada 16km from the dock, and Freake's Taxi Service (tel 535-8100) will come and collect you, but the times of the buses don't tally with those of the boats, leaving you with several hours to kill, if you're catching the 10pm boat, or an overnight stay, for the 4pm sailing.
