. This tiny town on the Mekong is an unexpected delight, with a relaxing, indolent atmosphere. Away from the blemish of the modern market, Kratie is a wonderful hotchpotch of colonial terraces and traditional old Khmer buildings - sturdy wooden structures, with dark-red roof tiles and often a decorative flourish.
