The road to the border runs 29km west from Almirante through seemingly endless banana plantations to
CHANGUINOLA
, a typically hot and uninteresting banana town where almost everyone works for the Chiriqu Land Company ("The Company" - successor to United Fruit) which owns most of the surrounding land.
Buses
from Almirante and the border at Guabito arrive and leave from the terminal, which is usually busy with workers heading to the banana fincas, known by numbers rather than names. There's no reason to stop unless you get stuck between Costa Rica and Bocas, but if you do end up
