Ten kilometres up the valley from Sinaia is
BUSTENI
(883m), a small resort overshadowed by the sheer peaks of Caraiman (2384m) and Costila (2498m), and separated from each other by the dark Alba valley and the highest conglomerate cliffs in Europe. Caraiman is identified by a huge cross, a war memorial erected in the 1920s, and Costila by a TV tower that looks like a space rocket. There's nothing much to Busteni itself, but it's a good base for the excellent walking to be had in the surrounding mountains.
