Twenty-five kilometres east of Teius on the DN14b to Sighisoara, the small town of
BLAJ
stands at the junction of the main Sighisoara-Cluj rail line and the branch to Sovata and Praid; the town itself lies about 1km east of the train station. Blaj's main claim to fame is its historical status as the ark of Romanian Nationalism. When Hungary revolted against the Hapsburgs in 1848, Magyar demands to reincorporate Transylvania within the "lands of Stephen" provoked a famous Romanian response.
