Some 34km north of Bziers, the pleasant if unremarkable town of
BDARIEUX
lies right on the edge of the park. Served by buses from both Bziers and Montpellier, and by train from Bziers, it makes a good base for entering the park, especially as the service continues along the Orb and Jaur valleys to St-Pons beneath the southern slopes of the Monts de l'Espinouse.
The best part of town is to the east of the river, where the tall and crumbly old houses are redolent of a rural France long since vanished in more prosperous areas. You'll find the
