AO NANG
(sometimes confusingly referred to as Ao Phra Nang), 45 minutes by road from Krabi or a ten-minute boat ride from cape Laem Phra Nang, is more sedate than at Laem Phra Nang, but correspondingly friendlier and less claustrophobic. The narrow and unexceptional beach has a road running right along its length, with the resort area stretching back over 1km from the shore along Route 4203. Don't bother coming to Ao Nang between May and October, when the beach gets covered in sea-borne debris and most accommodation is closed.
