ANAKASSI
is just 4km out of town, and few casual visitors give more than a passing glance to what is essentially a suburb of Vlos. What they miss is a small but very beautiful museum (signposted) dedicated to the "naive" painter
Theophilos
(1873-1934). A great eccentric, originally from Lsvos, Theophilos lived for long periods in both Athens and Vlos, where he wandered around, often dressed in traditional costumes, painting frescoes for anyone prepared either to pay or feed him.
